2023 Film Festival Season Opens

Homesteading Film Festival Premieres September 2023

August 2023 Happy day! We’re now accepting submissions for our three film festivals. As an homage to the classic film, our theme this season is Metropolis (1927). This season, we’re also hoping to communicate more and also more effectively with our previous submitters and supporters via email campaigns and updates.

We’ll include information about upcoming deadlines, waiver codes, special events, etc. You won’t want to miss out, so check your spam folder! Also, today is a great time to create your complimentary filmmaker profile.

We relocated recently from Colorado to the Ozarks, living off-grid. We’re also accepting submissions for our new International Homesteading Film Festival #IHFF2024

The homesteading film festival event will be held online for three weeks. You can learn more about the venue and our other projects here, also here. We’re happy to accept and host your trailers indefinitely.

What is “homesteading?” The concept spans a wide variety of themes and activities. Many, if not most, homesteaders raise animals. The most common choices are chickens.

Folks also raise ducks, geese, bees, goats, sheep, cows, dogs, cats, and various other critters. It all depends on how much space you have, what you want to achieve, and what you’re comfortable with. Urban and rural.

We’re interested in showcasing creative work with themes to include homeschooling, gun safety and storage, traditional foods preparation, quilting and sewing, prepping, survivalism, alternative energy, self-sufficient off-grid living, animal husbandry, training, wound care, farming, gardening, growing cannabis & hemp, growing herbs, medicinal foods, organic practices, soil health, permaculture.

How to collect and process rainwater. How to discover water, manage running water and runoff, dig a well. Excavate. Bush hog. Make a pond. Keep your pond fish and plant life healthy and sustainable. How to use drills, chainsaws and hand tools. How to pour concrete. How to dispatch and butcher animals. You get the idea!

We’re accepting shorts, scripts only. We love satire and comedic shorts! We like dystopic themes, too.

We typically publish Nominees and Awards 1-3 weeks following conclusion of festival events, so please check back with us.
